What is ‘3rd place’?
‘3rd place’ is about engaging with the Christian faith in a new way – for some it will be about taking their faith and exploring it in new ways, for others it will be about asking questions about the Christian faith in a new environment. It is not a substitute or alternative to Church but is distinct in:
- Where it meets – ‘in a 3rd place’: not in church or at home but in an accessible ‘open’ to the community space where people would naturally meet, for example the pub, café, restaurant, golf club ………
- Who comes – anybody! This is not a ‘membership’ organisation but one where people will feel at home with their questions, queries, doubts and ambitions
- What it does – exploring and sharing in an open and honest way questions about how we live our lives in the light of what Jesus has done.
Church in the ‘3rd place’ in Knaresborough is seeking affiliation with Churches Together in Knaresborough and keeps in close touch with the leaders and ministers within the Churches in Knaresborough in such a way as to enrich and serve these Churches.
