Purpose and vision
The purpose of ‘3rd place’ is:
- To explore the relationship between the world and the church, making Jesus’ message and the influence of his kingdom available and relevant
- To make Jesus and his message relevant and accessible to anybody asking questions or exploring what it means to be his apprentice in the 21st Century
- To challenge Christians to engage with issues presented by the world around them and to develop a distinctive Christ-like response in their lives.
The vision for the movement is that Jesus’ message and rule should be increasingly in evidence in the lives of the people of Knaresborough, and that people’s needs for spiritual, emotional and physical fulfilment are met in the same way that Jesus met these needs when he came and lived with us. This will mean that there is a wide and varied network of people exploring and living out a life of faith that is connected with the community they live in.
